This is highly innovative new mobile application that’s set to make a major contribution to public safety. The app provides access to detailed information about dangerous events like earthquakes, floods and fires, and potential hazards such as violent thunderstorms and heavy snowfalls. Each verified event is located on a map with a link to detailed information about its current status, important emergency numbers and advice on how best to respond to the danger.
Access to timely information can save lives and prevent loss and damage of property. Raising public awareness and providing timely access to information about potential and existing dangers is one of the most effective ways not only of reducing the negative effects of disasters but of preventing current hazards from becoming future disasters.
This groundbreaking app was designed by UNDP and developed by students at Skopje University’s Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. National Crisis Management Centre is the beneficiary and it is administering the application on a daily basis.
